"Ecstatic Depressive Realism…. Ahahahaha … I mean, I say that, and it's funny when I say it, people think I'm serious, I kinda am and I'm kinda not. It's a strange record, a lot of the music's up, but the words are darker."
According to Bobby Gillespie, Primal Scream have always been a pop band -they've just decided to make that a little more obvious on their new album. Three decades deep in their career, and the Scottish icons are set to drop their 11th album Chaosmosis, a concise blast of 3 minute pop hits spiked with bittersweet lyrics, at points sung by guest vocalist Sky Ferreira.
In a 2014 interview with NME, Ferreira said, “The reason I like working with Primal Scream is because there’s absolutely no pressure. It’s nice to walk in somewhere and they’re not like, ‘Okay, your label is harassing me about this and that.' I set it up without anyone else involved, so we just sit and write in a room and there's no pressure." Expect to hear more Ferreira and Primal Scream songs on Ferreira’s next album Masochism.
